Downloading Multiple Files From SharePoint Document Repository Using FlashGot

When I was told that we were looking to download 500+ documents from our corporate intranet which runs on SharePoint my instant reaction was that we should throw out some custom code to fetch files from the SharePoint web-services.

But then, why write code when you can do the same thing, just as fast, without writing any code? Don't get me wrong. I mean, I'm all for writing code, but if there's a tool out there that will save a few hours of my life and fix a problem, without my having to write any code, I don't really have a problem with that either! :)

Here is an account of how I managed to grab and download some 500+ documents from a SharePoint 2003 Document Repository without writing a single line of code.

Hi!

Nice post...I have used FlashGot long back and It was really helpful. But then one lonely day I met Internet Download Manager. And now, I use it for bulk/fast/multiple downloads everyday. There are many other tools like this but for me I prefer IDM, just my personal choice. Though I didn't try IDM with SharePoint downloads, but I hope it wont upset me, when needed. And if does, I have your FlashGot ;)

One thing to notify:

The link in this post is broken.

I think it should link to:

Kindly update.

Thanks for letting me know about the broken links. I usually check the links before posting.

Fixed it :)

I was very pleased with Flash-got because it’s free. I think IDM has a 30 day trial. I should give it a shot and see if it works. Maybe next time, I need to download 500+ docs I’ll go ahead and give IDM a shot. :)

Right Rajiv,

its not a free tool.

But even the trial version is quite useful. The time I was using the trail period I didn't find many functions disabled, so it didn't distract me much.

And anyway, there are many ways to take care of the trial period ;) In case you need one for this......just give me a buzz. I am sure I will (I do, b'coz I use it heavily) have it.

Cheers,
Rohit
